Grenada

Destination Overview
Grenada is located in the east of the Caribbean, only 100 miles north of Venezuela. To the North lies St. Vincent and the Grenadines; to the South you will find Trinidad and Tobago.

Culture
Though the official language in Grenada is English, you will find most Grenadians speak a Creole or English dialect. The Grenadian population are mainly of African, East-Indian and European descent.

Cuisine
In Grenada, holiday makers can indulge in some of the most vibrant cuisine in the region – from native Grenadian fare, made from the fresh local produce that can be found at the local markets, to some of the finest international cuisine. West Indian grub is of course popular, with restaurants featuring creative local delicacies such as callaloo soup, an assortment of fresh local seafood and meats prepared in a true West Indian manner.

Beaches
Due to its mountainous backdrop, Grenada is home to an irregular coastline, marked by many small bays and coves. This creates several intimate and private beaches, many of which have been found to be completely untouched since the island rose from the sea. The majority of the best known beaches are to be found in the South West of Grenada. This is also, in-fact, home to Grenada’s most famous stretch of sand, the exquisite two-mile long Grand Anse.

Climate
In Grenada you really get the benefit of the Caribbean sun, with temperatures reaching 75ºF to 85ºF (24ºC to 30ºC), balanced with the cooling trade winds. The lowest temperatures occur between February and November. Due to Grenada’s intense landscape, the island also experiences climate changes according to altitude. The driest season is between January and May. Even during the rainy season, June through to December, it hardly rains for more than an hour at a time.
