Destination Overview

Measuring an intimate 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, St Lucia is bursting with natural beauty with an abundance of exotic wild flowers and extravagant tropical birds.

 

Culture
St Lucia has filtered through an array of different beliefs and traditions due to many people passing through, in it’s ever growing history. It is possible to drive on the British side of the road to an Indian restaurant in a French town, greeted along the way by Creole patios! There are many fortresses to explore, which are the result of several decades of fierce warfare for the possession of the island.

Cuisine
St. Lucia′s rich cultural heritage is reflected in it’s mind blowing cuisine. The fertile, volcanic soil of the island shields a bounty of crisp produce including several different types of banana, mangoes, papayas, pineapples, passion fruits , guavas and coconut. Local chefs combine this incredible abundance with a wide variety of equally fresh seafood to create tantalising curries, Creole-style entrees and pepper pot stews.

Activities
Dive into your adventurous side and join a jeep safari and head through St Lucia′s green countryside for the ride of your life! There are copious amounts of horseback excursions, rainforest, mountain and plantation walks. Adrenaline junkies can whisk through the air on a series of zip lines up to 50ft above the ground or tackle the Pitons with the help of a local guide. There is also an 18-hole championship golf course with beautiful fairways and captivating views.

Climate
St Lucia is quite literally immersed in sunshine all year round. Daily temperatures often reach an appealing 85 degrees F and, as it lies in the path of the north-east trade winds, you won’t feel uncomfortably hot. July and August are the hottest months but even December and January can be wonderfully mild. June to November is the official hurricane season with occasional tropical storms to be expected, however, the rain is warm and isn’t known to last a lengthy amount of time.
