Best Things to do in Dubai

Having recently returned from a trip to Dubai, I got thinking about what the best things to do in Dubai really are. There is a long list of attractions and day trips, but which ones are worthwhile? I’ve come up with a short guide to some of the best things to do in Dubai.

The Yellow Boats

Burj al Arab Tour with The Yellow Boats

With tours of 60, 75 and 90 minutes, the yellow boats are surely the quickest way of visiting some of Dubai’s most popular sites. The speed boats used really do get the adrenaline pumping and the advice of your local tour guide throughout the tour is extremely informative. Visiting sites including Dubai Marina, Atlantis the Palm, the Burj al Arab and a complete tour of the Jumeirah Palm – this really is a trip to take your camera on!

Aquaventure, Atlantis the Palm

This waterpark is amongst the most highly regarded in the world. If you enjoy waterslides or are a self confessed adrenaline junky, you need to ensure that your visit to Dubai includes a day at the Aquaventure Atlantis. My personal favourite was Poseidon’s Revenge – where riders stand upright in an enclosed tube, and the floor drops away from beneath their feet. You then drop in free fall before going on a fast ride through twists and corners in complete darkness!

Charter a Private Yacht

Spending a day aboard your own private yacht with a captain and a butler really is a remarkable way to enjoy Dubai’s incredible architecture, diversity and climate. Prices are reasonable and ships start from 22ft Yachts right up to 145ft houseboats – the choice really is limitless. Soak up the sun, swim in the sea and sip you champagne – how better to spend your holiday?

Bateaux Dubai

Bateaux Dubai combines the best of gourmet cuisine from around the world with an exquisite way to see the Dubai Creek. The experience is a 3 hour cruise along the Dubai Creek with fine dining and drinks served along the way. Guests will enjoy their meal on a glass-enclosed, air conditioned deck of the ship with open air viewing decks on the floor above. This inspirational evening is one of the best ways to see this quieter part of the city by night, and the food and drink on offer certainly will not disappoint.

Dubai Malls

Dubai’s selection of malls are an incredible way to spend time if you want to escape from the sun for a few hours. The malls include Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Wafi City. Dubai Mall is huge, boasting over 13 million square foot of space and is home to an incredible aquarium, which can be viewed from inside the mall; the Mall of the Emirates opened in 2005 and is home to some of the world’s leading retailers, whilst Wafi City mall is unique as it is designed in the style of ancient Egypt. The shopping in Dubai is tax free, and in May they have a weekend with a 90% off sale – so shopping bags (and credit cards) at the ready!
